SHANGHAI, Aug. 31 (SMM) - Chile’s copper production was 448,000 tonnes in July, down 1.5% year-on-year and 5.5% month-on-month, according to Chilean government.
Total copper output in the first seven months of this year was 3.22 million tonnes, a drop of 5.18% year-on-year, compared to a rise of 2.27% in the same period last year.
The country’s copper output fell for two months in a row due to lower ore grade at some mine fields, SMM understands.
Chile’s total copper output is expected to fall this year, down from 5.79 million tonnes in 2015.
