TOKYO (Scrap Register): With the increased production to meet the domestic demand, Japan's crude steel output in July increased for a fourth month in a row. Japan gained again over a period last year when high inventories and slow domestic demand had forced Japanese mills to trim output.

July crude steel output increased 0.5 percent to 8.89 million tons as compared to an year ago, as per the Japan Iron and Steel Federation. Output, which is not seasonally-adjusted, increased 1.3 percent from June.

Global crude steel increased 1.4 percent to 134 million tons in July from the same month a year ago, as per the figures from the World Steel Association. Crude steel output from China, the world's top producer and consumer of the alloy, rose to 66.8 million tons, up 2.6 percent from July 2015.
