US Raw Steel production down to 1,685,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 2.4% year-on-year to 1,685,000 net tons in the week ended August 13.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 2.4% year-on-year to 1,685,000 net tons in the week ended August 13 while the capability utilization rate was 72.1 percent, as per the figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, raw steel production was 1,726,000 net tons in the week ended August 13, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 72.2 percent.

Domestic raw steel production production for the week ended August 13, 2016 is down 0.7 percent from the previous week ended August 6, 2016 when production was 1,697,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.6 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through August 13, 2016 was 55,966,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.5 percent. That is down 1.0 percent from the 56,526,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.3 percent.
