LONDON (Scrap Register): Chinese crude steel production saw an advance of 2.6 per cent year-on-year to 66.8 million tons during July this year, while India's output reached 8.1 million tons, up 8.1% compared to the same month last year, as per the latest figures from the the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 8.9 million tons of crude steel in July 2016, an increase of 0.5% compared to July 2015. South Korea’s crude steel production was 6.0 million tons in July 2016, up by 1.5% on July 2015.
However, global steel production was 133.7 million tons in July 2016, 1.4% up on July 2015. In the first seven months of the year, global steel production totaled 929.6 million tons, down 1.2% from the same period in 2015.
