China Alumina Output to Fall Back in August from This Year’s High, SMM Says

Alumina production in China hit this year’s high in July, but will fall back in August, SMM expects.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 22 (SMM) – Alumina production in China hit this year’s high in July, but will fall back in August, SMM expects.

The country’s alumina output totaled 5.05 million tonnes in July, up 3.8% from June and 4.49% from a year ago, SMM statistics showed. Release of new and restarted capacity contributed to the growth, SMM explained.

SMM expects national output to drop to 5.01 million tonnes in August, due to production cuts at some producers for various reasons.
