LME Aluminum to Hover at Highs Next Week, SMM Expects

Both LME and SHFE aluminum will consolidate at highs next week, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 19 (SMM) – Both LME and SHFE aluminum will consolidate at highs next week, SMM predicts.

LME aluminum will remain firm between $ 1,650-1,720 per tonne, while SHFE 1610 aluminum will consolidate at 12,300-12,800 yuan per tonne, supported by low aluminum stocks in China.

China Alumina Output to Fall Back in August from This Year’s High, SMM Says

Aluminum stocks in China, though up, are still at low levels. More aluminum ingots will arrive in east China due to shrinking price spread between Shanghai and Guangdong. This will narrow spot premiums in east China to 50-100 yuan per tonne over SHFE 1609 aluminum.

SHANGHAI, Mar 28 (SMM) – The most-traded SHFE 2205 aluminium contract climbed from 22,720 yuan/mt last Monday to 23,465 yuan/mt on Thursday amid the escalation of Russia-Ukraine war before closing at 23,090 yuan/mt on Friday afternoon, up 260 yuan/mt or 1.14% on the week.
