SHANGHAI, Aug. 12 (SMM) - A large number of zinc downstream processors were forced to slash output or shut down due to the upcoming G20 Summit to be held in Hangzhou in early September, SMM reports.

Production at most zinc oxide plants, galvanizers and die-cast zinc alloy producers in Zhejiang’s Hangzhou, Wenzhou and Taizhou and Jiangsu’s Wuxi was restricted or ceased.

This round of environmental protection inspections will affect about 50% of zinc consumption by Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

These zinc downstream processors will also take a toll from strict logistics control during the summit.
