MANILLA (Scrap Register):  Philippines suspended the operations of Ore Asia Mining and Development Corp,  the country's only Iron Ore miner, according to official reports.

The  suspension of operations is followed by the mine operational crackdown by  government due to environmental infractions. This is eight the number of mineral  producers halted in a government crackdown.

Philippines has previously  suspended operations of seven mines due to environmental infractions and this is  the eighth mine closure by the government.

Ore Asia Mining and  Development Corp, which runs an Iron Ore mine in Bulacan province, north of the  capital Manila, was suspended after an investigation showed it polluted a river,  Environment and Natural Resources. The company produced 40,000 tonnes of Iron  Ore last year.
