MANILLA (Scrap Register): Philippines suspended the operations of Ore Asia Mining and Development Corp, the country's only Iron Ore miner, according to official reports.
The suspension of operations is followed by the mine operational crackdown by government due to environmental infractions. This is eight the number of mineral producers halted in a government crackdown.
Philippines has previously suspended operations of seven mines due to environmental infractions and this is the eighth mine closure by the government.
Ore Asia Mining and Development Corp, which runs an Iron Ore mine in Bulacan province, north of the capital Manila, was suspended after an investigation showed it polluted a river, Environment and Natural Resources. The company produced 40,000 tonnes of Iron Ore last year.
