SHANGHAI, Aug. 8 (SMM) – According to China Customs, China imported 160,800 mt of alumina in June, down 8.30% MoM and 27.99% YoY. Imports from Australia rose 14.01% MoM to 136,500 mt, contributing 84.88% to total imports.
Imports remained in losses, dampening import activities. China Zhongwang Holdings and China Aluminum International Trading claimed 45.71% and 22.85%, respectively of total imports, while imports by other trade firms fell considerably.
Alumina prices in domestic market kept falling recently, and purchases by aluminum smelters also fell sharply. As such, China’s alumina imports will remain low in July.
