Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 9,000 to 309,800 tonnes this week, according to SMM data.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 5 (SMM) – Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 9,000 to 309,800 tonnes this week, according to SMM data.

Zinc inventories in both Shanghai and Tianjin fell due to lower arriving shipments and stable purchases. SMM learnt some zinc smelters reported maintenance and unstable production. Inflows of imported zinc also decreased.

Guangdong’s zinc inventories grew. Most South China-based zinc smelters shipped goods to Guangdong as the price spread between Shanghai and Guangdong narrowed. Meanwhile, local zinc consumption by die-casters was anemic.
