SHANGHAI, Aug. 5 (SMM) –TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were 4,700-5,000 yuan per tonne (zinc content) this past week. Those for imported zinc concentrate (50%) were $85-110 per dry metric tonne (DMT), with the low-end of $80 but no trade reported.
A few regions lowered domestic zinc concentrate TCs this week. SMM heard quotes were as low as 4,300-4,400 yuan per tonne (price to factory). Those above 5,000 yuan per tonne were mainly for local buyers.
Losses from imported ore expanded to 1,600-1,750 yuan per tonne (zinc content) compared with domestic ore this past week due to lower SMM/LME zinc price ratio.
SMM understands some zinc smelters expecting ore tightness to exacerbate negotiated with imported ore suppliers on year-end purchase.
