Chinese Steel production up in June; South Korea down 6.7%

Chinese crude steel production for June 2016 was 69.5 million tons, an increase of 1.7% compared to June 2015.

LONDON (Scrap Register): Chinese crude steel production for June 2016 was 69.5 million tons, an increase of 1.7% compared to June 2015, as per the latest figures from the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 8.8 Mt of crude steel in June 2016, an increase of 2.7% compared to June 2015. South Korea’s crude steel production was 5.5 Mt in June 2016, down by 6.7% on June 2015.

However, global crude steel production was 136 million ton in June 2016, the same figure as June 2015. Global crude steel production in the first six months of 2016 was 794.8 Mt, a decrease of 1.9% compared to the same period of 2015.
