LONDON (Scrap Register): BHP to boost Iron Ore and copper output during the year. Total iron ore output of the company is expected to be up by seven percent. Copper output is expected to rise five percent and metallurgical coal by three percent.
From the company's Western Australia mines, production of the current financial year to end-June 2017 is forecast to increase to between 265 million tonnes and 275 million tonnes.
BHP, which has now completed a massive expansion of its iron ore business to feed the Chinese market. But BHP has forecasted petroleum output to fall up to 17 percent and onshore U.S. shale oil business to fall nearly 30 percent as it defers development at a time of low prices.
