SAO PAULO (Scrap Register): Brazil has launched an anti-dumping (AD) investigation over the Chinese imports of high-carbon steel wire.

According to the Brazilian government, the probe follows a request from local producer Belgo Bekaert, a JV between ArcelorMittal and N.V. Bekaert. The decision was published on Monday in the nation’s official gazette, Diario Oficial da Uniao (DOU), and applies to Chinese imports of high-carbon steel wire of high strength, circular section, with smooth or notched surfaces.

The products subject to the investigation fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Positions 7217.10.19 and 7217.10.90.

The Brazilian government said the relative dumping margin it found was 71.6 percent, as it considered $1,070.49/mt as a regular export value, compared with Chinese export prices of $623.65/mt.
