The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) said July 13 it hopes China to abolish the 5-20% export tax for nine important metals and minerals.

SHANGHAI, Jul 14 (SMM) - The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) said July 13 it hopes China to abolish the 5-20% export tax for nine important metals and minerals, saying such tax has violated WTO’s regulations, wenhua.com reports.

The mine metals and minerals include antimony, cobalt, copper, lead, magnesium oxide, tantalum, tin, graphite and talcum, which are key materials for US aerospace, automobile, electronics and chemical products industries.

The USTR believes such tax levied by Chinese exporters raised US manufacturing cost, which Chinese manufacturers do not need to pay.
