ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) fell further to $229 a ton during the week ended June 17, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 dropped by $6 a ton during this week to close at $229 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.
Bookings continued to take place in the first half of the week with spreads between deals much tighter than the varying levels seen ten days ago.
Despite sluggish export demand for rebar, traders remain hopeful of a pick-up in booking activity post-Ramadan in both domestic and export markets.
That being said, competitively priced Chinese export billet offers, as well as volatility in the US dollar exchange rate means the current mood for some is a cautious one.
