US Raw Steel production slips to 1,757,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production slipped by 0.2% year-on-year to 1,757,000 net tons in the week ended June 25, 2016.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production slipped by 0.2% year-on-year to 1,757,000 net tons in the week ended June 25, 2016, while the capability utilization rate was 75.1 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, raw steel production was 1,760,000 net tons in the week ended June 25, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 74.4 percent.

Production for the week ended June 25, 2016 is up 0.4 percent from the previous week ended June 18, 2016 when production was 1,750,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.8 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through June 25, 2016 was 44,005,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.4 percent. That is down 0.7 percent from the 44,315,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.1 percent.
