SHANGHAI, Jun. 28 (SMM) – The lithium carbonate prices in China posted declines during June 20-24. What are behind the price falls?

Average price of industrial-grade lithium carbonate was 132,500 yuan per tonne during the week ending June 24, falling 1.12% on the weekly basis. And average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate was 155,000 yuan per tonne, down 8.15% week-on-week.

The release of Standard Conditions of Automotive Power Battery Industry triggers caution at automotive battery producers, who thus purchased raw materials only as needed.

On the supply side, domestic lithium concentrate producing regions and lithium carbonate producers ramped up production and their capacities are expected to expand in the future. As such, downstream battery producers took a wait-and-see stance and were not active in building stocks.
