NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States silver scrap prices advanced on Thursday, while silver futures prices at New York Mercantile Exchange ended higher after partial results in a UK referendum put Britain on the brink of leaving the European Union, boosting the appetite for safe-haven assets.
The major silver scrap commodities on the Scrap Register Price Index traded up on Thursday. The hallmarked silver scrap prices advanced to $14.234 an ounce and non-hallmarked silver scrap prices up to $12.635 an ounce.
The most active July silver contract on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange jumped 4.1 cents to $17.353 an ounce on Thursday.
