NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States raw steel production up by 2% year-on-year to 1,779,000 net tons in the week ended June 11, while the capability utilization rate was 76.1 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, domestic raw steel production was 1,744,000 net tons in the week ended June 11, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 73.7 percent.
Production for the week ended June 11, 2016 is up 1.1 percent from the previous week ended June 4, 2016 when production was 1,760,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 75.3 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through June 11, 2016 was 40,555,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.3 percent. That is down 0.6 percent from the 40,795,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 71.8 percent.
