BYD Targets 30% Growth in Auto Sales in 2016 with New Energy Vehicles Claiming 24%

BYD Co. targets auto sales at 500,000 units this year with new energy vehicles accounting for more than 24%, auto.qq.com reported.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 12 (SMM) – BYD Co. targets auto sales at 500,000 units this year with new energy vehicles accounting for more than 24%, auto.qq.com reported.

The company will increase its shipments to market in the latter half of this year and sales volumes of new energy vehicles is expected to reach 120,000 units within this year, doubling from 58,000 units last year.

In 2015, the company reported sales volumes at 380,000 units, only posting a modest rise of 1% year-on-year. This was mainly because of 9.73% year-on-year slip to 320,000 units in fuel vehicles. In contrast, those for new energy vehicles grew 208% on the yearly basis to 58,000 units, claiming 15% in the whole year’s sales volumes.
