Aluminum output in China will maintain growth in June due to release of restarted and new capacity, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 12 (SMM) – Aluminum output in China will maintain growth in June due to release of restarted and new capacity, SMM predicts.

The country’s operational new aluminum capacity will increase to 300,000-tpy in June. Yunnan Aluminum Co., Gansu Dongxing Aluminum, among other smelters, will restart idled capacity, SMM learned.

China’s aluminum output totaled 2.61 million tonnes in May, down 1.1% from a year ago, but up from April’s 2.49 million tonnes, SMM statistics showed.
