NEW YORK (Scrap Register): Turkish scrap imports volume from United States up by 3.8% to 1.13 million metric tons during the first four months of this year, while its scrap import value reached $225 million, down by 34.2% year-on-year, as per the latest figures from the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
Turkish total scrap import volume gained by 4.1% year-on-year to 5.53 million metric tons during January-April, while these imports were valued at $1.08 billion.
Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries increased by 15.7% year-on-year to 3.26 million metric tons during the first four months of 2016, while scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 897,000 mt, down 24.3% from a year early.
The share of EU countries in Turkey's total scrap imports was 59 percent during January-April, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 20.5 percent, while CIS countries’ share was 16.2 percent.
