SHANGHAI, May 26 (SMM) – Lead concentrate imports in China recorded a 26-month low in April, according to data announced by China’s Customs.
China imported 93,000 tonnes of lead concentrate in April, a year-on-year drop of 26.6% and a month-on-month fall of 15.71%.
Reduction in overseas concentrate supply was behind the sharp month-on-month slip in concentrate imports in April. With closing of Century and Lisheen mines, Glencore and Doe Run announced production cut. This tightened concentrate supply in overseas market. The expansion of Korea Zinc’s lead smelters also worsened tightened supply of concentrate.
