SHFE Zinc Prices Closed Higher (2016-5-17)

SHFE 1607 zinc opened at RMB 15,060/mt last evening, and closed at RMB 15,110/mt, up RMB 40/mt.

SHANGHAI, May 17 (SMM) – SHFE 1607 zinc opened at RMB 15,060/mt last evening, and closed at RMB 15,110/mt, up RMB 40/mt. Trading volumes of SHFE 1607 zinc were 160,000, and positions decreased 1,536 to 195,000.

SHFE 1607 zinc slumped after opening, dipping to RMB 15,070/mt. With short covering, SHFE 1607 zinc rallied and rose in the afternoon in tandem with ferrous metals, and closed at RMB 15,190/mt, up RMB 120/mt. Trading volumes of SHFE 1607 zinc decreased 107,000 to 327,000, and positions decreased 3,606 to 193,000. SHFE 1607 zinc is expected to rise above RMB 15,200/mt this evening.
