China will see turnaround in rare earth export prices in Q2 after both export volumes and prices fell in April, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, May 13 (SMM) – China will see turnaround in rare earth export prices in Q2 after both export volumes and prices fell in April, SMM predicts.

Outbound shipments surged 47.50% year-on-year to 3,696 tonnes in April, but were down significantly from March, customs data showed. Average export price was down both on yearly and monthly basis.

This year’s first commercial stockpiles of rare earth began on March 30, but the positive impact on prices began to be felt only after first delivery on April 21, SMM noted.
