Chalco has no plans to bring two aluminum smelters idled last year back online, its president Ao Hong was quoted by wenhua.com as saying on Tuesday.

SHANGHAI, May 12 (SMM) – Chalco has no plans to bring two aluminum smelters idled last year back online, its president Ao Hong was quoted by wenhua.com as saying on Tuesday. 

These two smelters have an annual capacity ot 500,000-600,000 tonnes.

Chalco maintains this year’s aluminum output target at below 3.3 million tonnes, Ao said. He also sees aluminum consumption in China growing at an annual pace of 7%-10% in coming five years to 44 million tonnes by 2020.
