SHANGHAI, Apr. 20 (SMM) – More than 50 per cent of secondary lead producers in Jiangxi have suspended production for environmental protection inspections, Shanghai Metals Market reports.
The new round of environmental protection inspections in Jiangxi mainly targets plants in Yichuan and neighboring regions due to drinking water containing excessive levels of heavy metals after illegal discharge, SMM reports.
Jiangxi is home to many alloy lead and secondary refined lead producers, which needs secondary lead for production, and prices of secondary lead are up following production suspension.
On Apr. 20, secondary lead price was 11,750-11,850 yuan per tonne, up from 11,700-11,750 yuan per tonne on Apr. 19, according to SMM data.
