Green Eco-Manufacturer (GEM) will develop a 40,000-tonne battery-grade nickel sulfate capacity in its electric vehicle battery raw material base complex.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 14 (SMM) – Green Eco-Manufacturer (GEM) will develop a 40,000-tonne battery-grade nickel sulfate capacity in its electric vehicle battery raw material base complex, according to news from 2016 SMM Cathode Material Conference in Wuhan.

The 120,000-tpy complex includes 40,000 tonnes of battery-grade nickel sulfate, 30,000 tonnes of NCM and NCA precursors, 10,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hexafluorophosphate, 20,000 tonnes of battery-grade manganese sulfate, and 20,000 tonnes of battery-grade cobalt sulfate.

“Production capacity of ternary material battery for electric vehicle will reach 20,000 tonnes, and grow to 100,000 tonnes in five years to meet global demand,” said Zhang Yunhe, head of R&D of GEM at the conference.
