ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) advanced further by $9 a ton week-on-week to $229 a ton during the week ended March 25, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

According to TSI, daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell $1 a ton from last Friday to end the week at $229 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.

The market has appeared to hit a ceiling at $230 a ton for the time being, with a number of trades completed in and around this level.

This signals a break from the recent trend of cargoes being sold incrementally higher, which could show mills have less appetite for scrap at these prices and are now pushing back.
