SHANGHAI, Mar. 30 (SMM) –Leaders from Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group, among China’s large vertically integrated aluminum producer, and Rio Tinto Alcan met in Beijing recently to seek cooperation, the company said in its website.
Zhang Bo, vice chairman of Weiqiao Group, said strengthening cooperation with Rio Tinto Alcan will be an important strategy to guarantee its resource supply. Zhang said Weiqiao Group will make adjustment to its alumina capacity in Indonesia based on investment environment and market conditions. Zhang added that its bauxite project in Guinea has given it a greater say in global pricing.
Zhang also expressed optimism over Chinese aluminum industry, noting that some outdated capacity has been phased out amid China’s economic slowdown and that new market demand is also growing fast.
