Japanese Stainless Steel Scrap imports from US rise 132% m/m in January

Japanese stainless steel scrap imports from United States rose sharply by 132% month-on-month to 1,749 tons in January from 772 tons a month early.

TOKYO (Scrap Register): Japanese stainless steel scrap imports from United States rose sharply by 132% month-on-month to 1,749 tons in January from 772 tons a month early, as per the latest figures released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance (MoF).

According to MoF, Japanese imports of stainless steel scrap advanced significantly by 22.21% to 8,857 tons in January as compare to 7,247 tons in December 2015.

South Korea was the largest exporter of stainless steel scrap to Japan during the month of January with 3,965 tons.
