Chinese motive battery distributors reported sharp drop in sale

SHANGHAI, Mar. 22(SMM) – Chinese motive battery distributors reported sharp drop in sales recently as such type of batteries gradually enter a slack season in March with warming temperatures, SMM learns.

SMM survey of 10 Chinese motive battery distributors finds that four of them saw sales down 10-20% from early March, versus a fall of 30-40% at one distributor, about 50% at three distributors and more than 50% at two distributors.

Leading brand battery prices posted declines, such as wholesale prices for 48v20Ah batteries down from 500-520 yuan to 490-510 yuan, even 485 yuan in some regions. Parts of less-known battery prices also decreased by 3-4 yuan for a piece of battery.

Copper Wire and Cable Production Drops 14.29% in February Amid Chinese New Year Holiday

[SMM Copper Flash] In February, the operating rate of copper wire and cable enterprises came in at 55.81%, down 14.29 percentage points MoM, mainly due to the Chinese New Year holiday. During the holiday, wire and cable enterprises took about 11 days off on average. By sector, orders from the power sector were strong with production schedules concentrated, while engineering-related orders were relatively weak, showing clear divergence in end-use sector orders.
