Vietnam scrap steel imports rebound in February

The scrap imports by Vietnam rebounded sharply during the month of February this year. The imports totaled 190,000 during the month.

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The most recently released trade data indicates that scrap steel imports by Vietnam during the month of February this year increased considerably when compared with the previous month.

Vietnam imported 190,000 tons of scrap steel during Feb ‘16. The scrap imports by the country have increased considerably by over 10% when compared with the imports during the month before. The scrap imports by the country had totaled 172,000 tons during January 2016.

The value of scrap imports totaled $33,776 million during February this year. The value of imports was up by 10.2% when compared with the previous month.

The cumulative scrap steel imports by Vietnam during the initial two months of the current year totaled 361,000 tons. The imports during the two-month period have dropped marginally by 4.3% over the previous year. The Vietnamese scrap steel imports during Jan-Feb ’15 had totaled 377,000 tons.

Meantime, scrap imports by the country during the entire calendar year 2015 had totaled 3.186 million tons. The scrap imports during the previous year had declined by 5.6% when compared with imports during 2014. The Vietnamese scrap imports had totaled 3.375 million tons during the entire year 2014.
