SHANGHAI, Mar. 18 (SMM) – Lead-acid battery production in China will hit 250.85 million kvah in 2016, Cao Guoqing, China Battery Industry Association Deputy Secretary, reckons at 2016 Lead & Zinc Summit on March 18.
Electric bike output will grow 28 million units in 2016 and motor vehicle production is expected to increase 140 million units. The number of communication base station should be up 700,000, which grows demand for batteries.
Domestic battery production was 210 million kvah last year, a year-on-year fall of 4.78%. Zhejiang produced most at 60.58 million kvah, followed by 26.11 million kvah in Hebei and 24.45 milllion kvah in Hubei.
China exported 30.79 million kvah of batteries in 2015 while imports at 2.68 million kvah. Hence, domestic actual consumption was at 181.89 million kvah, a drop of 7.30% year-on-year.
