China’s net imports of zinc ingot should increase 120,000-130,000 tonnes in 2016 from 2015.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 18 (SMM) – China’s net imports of zinc ingot should increase 120,000-130,000 tonnes in 2016 from 2015, an SMM zinc analyst said at the 2016 (11th) Shanghai Lead & Zinc Summit March 17.

There will be little room for re-export from bonded zone in 2016 due to low bonded zone inventories. At the same time, total imports look set to grow from 2015 due to output growth at Korea Zinc and elimination of zinc export tax to China in Australia and South Korea.

China’s zinc exports from bonded zone were nearly 100,000 tonnes in  2015 due to severe import losses in the first half of the year.
