What Factors to Lift China Scrap Battery Prices?

Spot lead prices in China remain weak recently while secondary lead and scrap battery prices hold firm.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 14(SMM) – Spot lead prices in China remain weak recently while secondary lead and scrap battery prices hold firm. Scrap battery prices are expected to grow further in near future and what factors to boost the prices？

Prices for scrap motive batteries have increased to 7,500 yuan per tonne in most regions, including Shandong, Hebei, Henan and Jiangsu. And scrap automobile battery (white shell) prices are also as high as 6,950-7,000 yuan per tonne in Henan and Hebei.

Qualified secondary lead producers still hold high buying interest for scrap batteries and disqualified smelters gradually restart operation after 2016 Chinese New Year holiday, pushing up demand for scrap batteries. On the other hand, battery stores are reluctant to sell at lows and purchase prices by traders also register a large growth. This will also lend support to scrap battery prices.

Henan Jinpeng Lead Industry stepped up procurement prices for scrap automobile battery (white shell) to 7,030 yuan per tonne, versus a rise to 7,000 yuan per tonne at Anhui Huacheng Nonferrous Metals Products.
