Jinchuan Group Slashes Copper Ore Output at Chibuluma Mine in Zambia

Jinchuan Group has slashed copper Ore production at its Chibuluma mine in Zambia as it grapples with rising costs amid struggling global prices for the red metal.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 8 (SMM) – Jinchuan Group has slashed copper ore production at its Chibuluma mine in Zambia as it grapples with rising costs amid struggling global prices for the red metal , an executive from the mine was quoted by Wenhua.com as saying. 

Monthly copper ore output from the mine has been reduced to 25,000 tonnes from 45,000 tonnes after cutting labor force by one third over the past two months, the executive said. 

Additional cost reduction measures will be introduced in the future to ensure the mine can be stay operational, Sinkamo added.
