SHFE Zinc Prices Close with Increases (Mar. 4, 2016)

SHFE 1605 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,490/mt on Thursday evening and closed at RMB 14,500/mt, up RMB 105/mt.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 4 (SMM) – SHFE 1605 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,490/mt on Thursday evening and closed at RMB 14,500/mt, up RMB 105/mt. Trading volumes were 221,000 lots, and positions grew 610 to 197,000.

SHFE 1605 zinc rose RMB 150/mt after opening today, then reached RMB 14,680/mt, but fell back to RMB 14,550/mt, and closed at RMB 14,480/mt, up RMB 85/mt. Trading volumes grew 132,000 to 627,000 lots, with positions down 6,454 to 190,000. Total trading volumes on SHFE zinc positions on SHFE 1605 zinc grew 149,000 to 823,000, and total positions declined 18,000 to 403,000. May zinc on the SHFE is expected to meet pressure from RMB 14,500/mt this evening.
