Prices for indirect zinc oxide rose 400 yuan to 14,400-14,800 yuan per tonne this past week, SMM data show.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 4 (SMM) - Prices for indirect zinc oxide rose 400 yuan to 14,400-14,800 yuan per tonne this past week, SMM data show.

Trading was anemic. Orders at zinc oxide plants saw limited improvement after the 2016 Chinese New Year holiday. When combined with high zinc prices, zinc oxide producers were reluctant to build zinc ingot stocks.

Prices for zinc slag (95-96%) in Hebei and Tianjin were 11,500-12,000 yuan per tonne. Supplies remained tight with low operating rates at galvanizers.
