US domestic Raw Steel production slips to 1,692,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production slipped by 0.8 percent to 1,692,000 net tons in the week ending February 27.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production slipped by 0.8 percent to 1,692,000 net tons in the week ending February 27, while the capability utilization rate was 72.4 percent, as per the latest figures from American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, raw steel production was 1,705,000 net tons in the week ended February 27, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 72.4 percent. 

Production for the week ended February 27, 2016 is down 0.4 percent from the previous week ended February 20, 2016 when production was 1,699,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.7 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 27, 2016 was 14,792,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 69.5 percent. That is down 6.6 percent from the 15,844,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.4 percent.
