CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries declined by 7.6% during the month of January year-on-year. The output by the region totaled 13.428 Million tonnes during the month.
Germany recorded the highest output during the month of January. The country produced 3.605 Million tonnes during the month, which is slightly lower by 2.0% when compared with the country’s output of 3.679 Million tonnes during January 2015. On a year-on-year basis, Greece recorded the biggest jump in production. The crude steel output by Greece surged higher to 100,000 tonnes when matched with the production of 72,000 tons during the same month a year before. The lowest output during the month was by Croatia.
Belgium, Finland, Greece and Poland recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Bulgaria recorded the biggest decline in crude steel output during January ‘16, falling by 57.6% when compared with the previous year.
