US Nickel scrap exports dropped by a third in Dec

The recently released data by the US Department of Commerce suggests significant drop in nickel scrap exports by the country during the month of December last year.

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics released by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) indicates that the country’s Nickel scrap exports dropped sharply by almost one-third in December last year when compared with the previous month. However, the average export price of nickel scrap increased during the month.

The nickel scrap exports during December ‘15 totaled 2,062 tons, falling considerably by 32.7% when compared with the exports during November. The country’s Nickel scrap exports during Nov ’15 had totaled 3,066 tons.

The export prices of US Nickel scrap increased nearly 8% over the year to $3,868.16 per ton during Dec ’15.

The cumulative Nickel scrap exports by the country during the entire year 2015 totaled 27,097 tons, significantly down by 11% when compared with the previous year. The country’s nickel scrap exports had totaled 30,446 tons during 2014.
