Jiangsu Nantong Posts Monthly Record of Copper Concentrate Imports in January 2016

The Port of Nantong of Jiangsu province recorded a single monthly high of copper concentrate imports in January 2016, js.xinhuanet.com reported.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 19 (SMM) – The Port of Nantong of Jiangsu province recorded a single monthly high of copper concentrate imports in January 2016, js.xinhuanet.com reported. 

Copper concentrates imported via the port hit 311,000 tonnes during the first monthly of 2016, according to the report, a record high. 

The reason behind the record imports is due mainly to concentrated arrivals of shipments of 2015 orders and falling prices of imported ore. The average import price of imported ore via the port dropped to $1,135 per tonne in January, down 34.6% year-on-year, stimulating import interest.
