SHANGHAI, Feb. 18 (SMM) – Inbound shipments of copper concentrates via the Port of Fangchenggang soared in 2015, according to finance.sina.com.cn.
Imports of concentrates through the port in Guangxi totaled 1.76 million tonnes in 2015, worth $2.396 billion, up 74.1% and 42.1%, respectively, year-on-year, according to data from Fangchenggang Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau.
Huge demand from Guangxi Jinchuan Nonferrous Metals served as a main driver behind the surge in imports, with imports accounting for 78.7% of the total via the port.
Besides, profits from TCs and gap between domestic and overseas copper price also boosted local import interest, according to the report.
In other news, grade of imported ores is falling with high import volumes, the port bureau said.
