SHANGHAI, Feb. 16 (SMM) – China has set the first batch of quotas for rare earth mining in 2016, cnmn.com reported.
China set the first batch of mining quota for rare earth at 52,500 tonnes (REO) in 2016. This includes 8,950 tonne quota for ion-type (mainly medium-to-heavy rare earth) rare earth mineral, and 43,550 tonne quota for rock-type (light) rare earth mineral, according to the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR).
China will release total rare earth mining quota for entire year of 2016 in the second quarter based on government policy and market changes.
