China Zinc Concentrate TCs Stay Flat, with TCs of Imported Ore Lower

TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were stable at 5,300-5,500 yuan per tonne (zinc content) this past week.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 5 (SMM) - TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were stable at 5,300-5,500 yuan per tonne (zinc content) this past week, and those for imported zinc concentrate (50%) fell further to $130-150 per dry metric tonne (DMT), according to SMM data.

SMM understands mines and logistics companies across China have mostly halted operation due to the 2016 Chinese New Year holiday, leaving trading quiet. Domestic zinc smelters had built sufficient inventories.

Losses from imported ore increased 390 yuan to 710 yuan per tonne (zinc content) compared with domestic ore, SMM calculates.

Trading will be suspended next week due to the week-long holiday, SMM says.
