SHANGHAI, Feb. 2 (SMM) – China’s aluminum semis exports will stay high in 20016 after a 14.4% rise in 2015, SMM expects.
Intensified competition will drive down processing fees for aluminum semis. This, together with improving product quality, will strengthen competitiveness of Chinese aluminum semis in overseas market, SMM aluminum analyst said.
According to China Customs, China’s aluminum semis exports fell to 370,000 tonnes in December 2015 from 397,400 tonnes in November. SMM attributes the decline to rising SHFE/LME aluminum price ratio. China exported 4.2 million tonnes of aluminum semis in 2015. Of them, extrusion exports soared 39.1% to 1.19 million tonnes; plate/sheet and strip exports rose 7.6% to 1.87 million tonnes; foil exports increased 9.7% to 952,000 tonnes; tube/pipe exports fell 15.9% to 147,000 tonnes.
