SHFE Copper Dragged Down by Chinese Stock Market Meltdown (2016-1-26)

SHFE 1603 copper rose on short covering after opening at RMB 34,930/mt on Tuesday.

SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 (SMM) –SHFE 1603 copper rose on short covering after opening at RMB 34,930/mt on Tuesday. The most active contract pulled back slightly after Chinese A-share market tumbled 6.42%, but then rebounded to RMB 35,190/mt, and finally ended down RMB 40/mt at RMB 35,100/mt. Positions of SHFE 1603 copper were down 15,270 to 278,786, and positions of SHFE 1604 copper were up 7,592 to 186,770.
