ARLINGTON (Scrap Monster): Plano Texas-headquartered Fortress Solutions has announced that its Leesburg, Florida facility has achieved the prestigious R2:2013 certification. The Responsible Recycling Certification is the highest, globally recognized industry standard for responsible environmental, health, safety, and security aspects of electronics reuse and recycling.
Lisa Somerville, EVP and General Manager of Florida Operations thanked the co-operation of all employees in achieving the important milestone. Somerville stated that the certification has confirmed the company’s commitment to maintain highest levels of environmental health, safety and security in handling of used electronics for the purpose of reuse and recycling.
It must be noted that the R2:2013 certification comes immediately after the company’s recent acquisition of Restor Telecom during November last year. The certification was awarded after rigorous audit process that established conformity to set standard requirements.

Each provision of the R2 Standard is designed to help ensure the quality, transparency, and environmental and social responsibility, of R2 Certified electronics recycling facilities. R2:2013 was developed through a transparent multi-stakeholder process, consistent with ANSI essential requirements.
